To Ensure Security on the Peninsula and Stability in Northeast Asia:
South Korea and the United States agreed to "appropriately accelerate" discussions on Seoul's efforts to gain greater control of its national defense, including operational command of its forces in wartime. The United States will continue to provide South Korea with a nuclear umbrella as protection against any attack.
